They have tons of videos on specific pieces along with different technique and warm-up exercises from high-level guitarists but no developed, long-term curriculum like CGC does. Tonebase has some of this and they are developing sequential courses but most of their content is smaller in scope (again this is just from what I can remember). They also seem to have built a large community of students that engages with each other, sharing tips and other things. I believe they do some online lessons or video feedback (you send in a video of your playing, they send one back with tips) as part of the package. You learn one piece, then once you master that you move onto the next one in the sequence. They have a set order of pieces and exercises that students go through to improve their playing and musical knowledge. From what I know of them the two platforms are quite different:Ĭlassical Guitar Corner (CGC) is, as far as I know, more of a sequenced learning experience. I'll start with another plug for getting an individual instructor as soon as you can, but I'll also try to actually answer your question, or at least provide a little more info. Tl dr: Which is better for someone with no prior knowledge in any musical instrument whatsoever, tonebase? Or Classical Guitar Corner? With your experience which is better, any feedback, advice or reviews welcome. I have found online tonebase and Classical Guitar Corner, yet I have no idea which is the superior platform for me to learn from and I don't want to dedicate my time to one of them then realizing the other would've been better for me. And I also really like classical guitar music which is a big plus. I am going to start learning classical guitar before venturing into jazz as there are a lot of important techniques I could learn playing classical that I could apply to jazz, or so I have been told. Getting a teacher is not possible at the moment as it would be too expensive and hard to keep up especially since I'll be going to university in another country. I am looking to start playing this summer and as I will be going to university next year and have my own apartment I will have a lot of time to practice besides my studies and I am really dedicated to studying the guitar. Hello, I'm an 18 year old really interested in guitar playing, mostly jazz and classical guitar playing. In his blog he has announced that he soon will teach more advanced music, (level 3, level 4) but I don't know how soon. But if you are an experienced player and want to play more advanced music, than you should know that his repertoire is now at the level of Study in D major by Sor, Lagrima by Tarrega, Le Papillon by Mauro Giuliani. He has filmed every exercise in detail and explains why the exercise is important. Compared to Noad he goes much slower and I like that. He takes the time to explain things (music notation, theory, etc) and it is well structured. I started from the absolute beginning and I think his method is very good for people who want to learn nylon-string/classical guitar from scratch. It is rather expensive but the lessons are addictive. I subscribed three days ago and I really like his method.
